Few months ago ZahraHussaini who is a civil and women rights activist proposed the idea “women have
right to ride bicycle”. She dreamed of a society where women and girls can
freely enjoy cycling regardless of any negative outlook. Hence she initiated
the Bicycle Riding Campaign for females in Bamyan starting herself to ride her
curved frame Japanese bicycle in freezing winter of Bamyan where temperature falls
to minus 20 c!

Her struggle and her
dream is about to happen as in our family Zakia (Zahra’s friend) and Mariam(Zakia’s friend) have started to get glasses, gloves and backpack and use
bicycle as their favorite and routine transportation facility. Moreover today I witnessed 2
other girls and one of my female colleagues pedaling over Chawni Hill on their bicycles.
